About the event

The Microplastics Initiative Community of Practice is preparing a webinar series for 2025 centered around four key focus areas: Analytics, Exposure, Biomonitoring, and Health Impact. For this second webinar Dr. Federic Been and Dr. H. Kas, authors of "Improved multivariate quantification of plastic particles in human blood using non-targeted pyrolysis GC-MS" will present a summary of their paper, highlighting key findings, research gaps, and opportunities for future exploration in the field of microplastic (MiP) analytics.

Dr. Marianna Armogida and Dr. Filip Sucharski from Haleon will provide insights into the study's methodology and discuss possible extensions of the findings by linking to another publication "Bioaccumulation of microplastics in decedent human brains"

Following up the talk, Dr. Inge Mulder from Amsterdam UMC will also dig deep into exploring the potential implications of detecting microplastics in the blood, including whether these particles might cross the blood-brain barrier (BBB).

About the event

Food allergies pose a significant health risk to millions globally and remain a primary public health concern. At the upcoming
Food Allergen Asia Conference, government regulators and the food industry will be able to learn and discuss the latest FAO/WHO studies, scientific guidance, and policy recommendations that will impact international standards, regulations, and beyond. BACKGROUND

Food allergies affect millions of individuals and pose significant challenges to food safety management worldwide, including the Asia Pacific region. This trend has led to heightened concerns among consumers, healthcare professionals, and food manufacturers, emphasizing the need for more stringent regulations and improved allergen control measures. To address these concerns, regulatory agencies are continuously updating food allergen policies based on the latest scientific evidence.

Hosted by the Asian Life Sciences Institutes Network (ALSIN), comprising of ILSI Asia entities and Shanghai JS Life Sciences Institute, and co-organized with ILSI Global, this conference will provide a platform for scientists, experts, industry professionals, policymakers, researchers, and healthcare practitioners to explore the latest scientific advancements, challenges, regulatory updates, and risk assessment approaches in food allergy prevention and management. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions, share experiences, and develop strategies to address current and emerging allergen-related challenges.

Join us in Bangkok and take part in a vital conversation as we collaborate to advance food allergen management in the Asia Pacific region!

About the event

The 18th International Scientific Conference on Probiotics, Prebiotics, Gut Microbiota and Health - IPC2025 will be held during the 24th - 26th June 2025 in Athens, Greece.

The goal of conference is to provide a scientific forum for all stakeholders of probiotics and prebiotics and to enable the interactive exchange of state-of-the-art knowledge. The conference is focused on evidence-based benefits, health claims proven in scientific experiments and clinical trials. New scientific evidences that support or question the efficiency of already existing or prospective substances and applications will be conferred. In addition novel strains, controversial but scientifically solid ideas, approaches and visions will be presented as well. Further to its scientific content, IPC2025 is a networking event. It is a unique opportunity to meet all the stakeholders of probiotics and prebiotics.

About the event

In the light of new activities starting in ILSI Europe Task Forces, we see an evident demand to work on mineral oil risk assessment within our industry members and expert groups. This reflects us back to a previous workshop, which was followed by the publication 'Mineral oil risk assessment: Knowledge gaps and roadmap. Outcome of a multi-stakeholders workshop' Trends in Food Science & Technology, 31/05/2021

It has been some time since this last update. We aim to shed some light on the topic through a short webinar. It will build upon the above-mentioned publication and address whether there have been any advancements on the previous research. If there are, we'll share new findings. If there are not, it would be crucial to highlight the reasons on what is holding back the advancements in the area.
