Plant-Based Infant Nutrition: What Clinicians Need to Know?

Join us at for a 20-minute, small-group session for quick, practical insights.

Led by Yvan Vandenplas (Vrije Universiteit Brussel) and Sascha Verbruggen (Erasmus University Rotterdam), key authors of a recent publication from ILSI Europe's "Early Nutrition & Long-Term Health" Task Force, this session translates expert discussions into clinically relevant takeaways:

  • What plant-based options are currently available?
  • What are the main nutritional considerations in practice?
  • Where does the evidence remain uncertain or limited?

💬 Includes an interactive Q&A, allowing direct exchange with the experts.

WHEN?

  • Thursday, 25 June | 16:45 - 17:10 (presentation by Sascha Verbruggen)
  • Friday, 26 June | 12:25 - 12:50 (presentation by Yvan Vandenplas)

WHERE?

At the ILSI Europe stand: Booth 58

  • Current evidence on plant-based proteins in infant nutrition
  • Key scientific and nutritional considerations
  • Critical research gaps and future directions

Agenda

10:00 - Welcome & Introduction, Ching-Yu Chang, ILSI Europe
10:05 - ENLH Proceedings: Key Considerations & Research Gaps in Plant-Based Infant Nutrition, Kasper Hettinga, Wageningen University

Website banner - Gut Microbiome Symposium 2026

The gut microbiota is a complex and diverse ecosystem comprising over 100 trillion microorganisms located predominantly in the distal gut and plays essential roles in nutrient absorption and metabolism, protection against pathogens, regulation of immune function, and strengthening of the gut and intestinal barriers. Increasing evidence recognises a healthy gut microbiota as a critical determinant of human health, while alterations in its composition and functionality, often referred to as microbial dysbiosis, are associated with metabolic disorders and pathological processes such as inflammatory bowel disease, obesity, metabolic syndrome, autism, and certain cancers. Among the many factors that influence the diversity and composition of the gut microbiota, dietary factors are considered one of the main drivers across the lifetime.

This symposium will focus on 3 bioactive dietary factors in promoting healthy gut microbiota, namely prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics, which are increasingly recognised for their potential health benefits to the host.

Objectives

The symposium aims to:

  • Provide scientific updates, including their roles in promoting a healthy gut microbiota
  • Share research, innovative development and applications in food and supplements
  • Review of regulatory status in SEA countries
  • Discuss consumer understanding, perception and utilization

The1-day symposium will be held at:

Website banner - Nutrition and Healthy Longevity Symposium 2026

Southeast Asia is experiencing rapid population aging, with rising non-communicable diseases challenging the extension of health span. Nutrition is a key, modifiable driver of healthy longevity, influencing metabolic health, physical and immune functions, as well as wellness and age-related decline across the life course.

This 2-day symposium convenes regional and international experts to translate advancing science, emerging knowledge and innovations into practical solutions. It will address translational nutrition impacting health, harness research on food and ingredients innovation alongside culturally relevant diets, share enabling systems and policy frameworks. Through cross-sector dialogue, the symposium aims to foster collaboration, align regional priorities, and catalyse research and action to advance healthy aging, extend health span with longevity across Southeast Asia.

  • Where does the evidence remain uncertain or limited?

💬 Includes an interactive Q&A, allowing direct exchange with the experts.

WHEN?

  • Friday, 26 June | 12:25 - 12:50 (presentation by Yvan Vandenplas)
