In recent years, the Latin American population has witnessed a demographic, epidemiological and nutritional transition. Among the changes observed is the decrease in the prevalence of malnutrition and the accelerated increase in overweight and obesity, attributed mainly to changes in the eating pattern, characterized by the consumption of an energy-dense diet, with high intake of source foods of simple sugars and saturated fats and poor in fiber. The objective of the study was to analyze the consumption of sugars added by the Costa Rican urban population and the factors associated with it.
