Es sabido que los malos hábitos alimentarios contribuyen a la aparición de enfermedades crónicas, como la obesidad y la diabetes mellitus, sin embargo, no existe información actualizada respecto a la alimentación de la población urbana en Costa Rica. El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar los hábitos alimentarios de la población costarricense incluida en el Estudio Latinoamericano de Nutrición y Salud (ELANS).

La actividad física (AP) y los comportamientos sedentarios (SB) son dos factores de riesgos independientes de enfermedades no transmisibles. El objetivo de este estudio fue utilizar datos objetivos para caracterizar patrones de los grupos sociodemográficos sobre AP y SB en los ocho países Latinoamericanos. 2,732 participantes (de 15 a 65 años) del Estudio Latinoamericano de Nutrición y Salud (ELANS) fueron incluidos.
Retos, nuevas tendencias en Educación Física, Deportes y Recreación, 2019
El propósito de esta investigación fue examinar la prevalencia de sobrepeso, obesidad, niveles de actividad física y de autoestima de la población infantil centroamericana, comparándoles según sexo y país.
Este estudio tuvo como objetivo evaluar la puntuación de calidad de la dieta (DQS), considerando saludable y poco saludable alimentos y nutrientes, y el puntaje de diversidad de la dieta (DDS) como indicadores de riesgo de enfermedades no transmisibles en ocho países latinoamericanos, y para verificar las posibles diferencias considerando país, sexo, edad, estado socioeconómico y nutricional.

Diversos estudios revelan que el perfil de los consumidores de suplementos nutricionales corresponde a individuos con estilos de vida saludables y ambiente sociodemográfico favorable. Esta investigación pretendió analizar el uso y las características sociodemográficas, antropométricas y de ingesta de los consumidores de suplementos nutricionales, en población urbana costarricense de 15 a 65 años.
